AMSTERDAM, Netherlands – 2024年6月19日 – At today’s Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRSE) 2024 event, Avient Corporation, a premier provider of specialized and sustainable materials solutions and services, will showcase two finalist sustainability technologies that expand its comprehensive packaging solutions portfolio.
Avient’s two PRSE finalists are featured in the Product Technology Innovation of the Year category. Each of these sustainability technologies, listed below, can improve the customer experience of working with post-consumer recycled (PCR) content and support the use of PCR materials in packaging:
- ColorMatrix™ AAnchor™ Acetaldehyde Control Technology: a newly formulated acetaldehyde (AA) scavenger specifically developed for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) packaging. This solution addresses challenges associated with increased recycled PET (rPET) content, focusing on improving recyclability and enhancing bottle quality. Not only does it improve the recyclability and quality of PET packaging, but it also reduces risk relative to regulatory compliance and migration of the active AA scavenging component and non-intentionally added substance (NIAS) species often associated with other types of AA scavengers.
- Cesa™ Unify™ A4R Polyolefin Compatibilizer: submitted in collaboration with Avient’s customer PreZero, a recycler, and its converter, Jelenia Plast, this innovative compatibilizer additive was developed jointly to boost the use of recycled polyolefins, showcasing how a value chain collaboration can lead to success. This technology addresses challenges associated with recycling incompatible polymers like polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) by forming a homogenous polymer mixture, increasing mechanical properties, and bridging the gap between virgin and recycled polymers. The solution enables industry players to incorporate higher quantities of PCR in polyolefin applications, promoting circularity and sustainability.
This is the second year in a row that Avient has had two Sustainability Technology in Packaging award finalists. In 2023, Avient’s Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) Color Prediction Service and Cesa™ Nox A4R Additives for Recycling were both featured in the Product Technology Innovation of the Year category, with the Color Prediction Service winning the overall award.
Sustainability experts from Avient will be on site to discuss the latest innovative solutions and help address recycling challenges. They will draw on research conducted at Avient’s CycleWorks™ Innovation Center, which focuses on improving mechanical recycling.
Avient will exhibit in booth B52 at PRSE 2024 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from June 19th to 20th, 2024.
