Barrier and Scavenger Additives

Barrier and scavenger additives play an important role in protecting and preserving PET packaged goods with a longer shelf life. They do this in two ways: by reducing acetaldehyde levels and by scavenging oxygen, to ensure that original content quality is maintained.  

Acetaldehyde, which naturally occurs as a by-product of PET processing, can adversely affect the taste of packaged products. Effective AA scavenging technologies control AA levels without affecting container aesthetics or recyclability.  

Oxygen scavengers (AA) also help reduce the risk of inferior product quality due to oxygen ingress and can be tailored to suit shelf life requirements. Oxygen scavengers are easy to use, keep containers clear, and are guaranteed to perform at a high level when used as recommended.
